In recent days, the number of patients visiting Janaki Eye Hospital in Janakpur for treatment has increased significantly due to the rising heat. According to the hospital, currently between 400 and 500 people are arriving daily for treatment with various eye-related problems.
Previously, the hospital used to receive an average of around 300 patients per day. Over the past few weeks, with the increase in temperature, the number of patients suffering from burning eyes, allergies, infections, and other eye-related problems has also increased, the hospital said.
According to the hospital’s director, Dr. Ashish Bohara, the majority of those seeking treatment are children and senior citizens. He said that excessive heat, dust, and environmental factors have contributed to the rise in eye-related problems.
Janaki Eye Hospital receives patients for treatment from Dhanusha as well as the districts of Siraha, Mahottari, and Sindhuli. The hospital also stated that a significant number of patients come from the bordering Indian state of Bihar for eye care services.
