Bardibas
The installation of electric and solar vapor lights has commenced in various locations of Bardibas Municipality Ward No. 8 in Mahottari district. The initiative was launched in response to long-standing problems faced by residents and business owners due to the lack of proper lighting during the evening hours.
In areas such as Bengkhadi Bazaar under Bardibas-8, the absence of lighting had plunged the local market into darkness after sunset. This not only affected shoppers who came to purchase vegetables, fruits, fish, and meat but also posed serious difficulties for local businesses.
With this problem in mind, Mayor Prahlad Kumar Kshetri spearheaded the effort to install electric and solar vapor lights in key areas such as Bengkhadi Bazaar, the Sarveshwaranath Mahadev Temple premises, and several spots in Hatilet.
According to local social worker Nathuni Lopchan, the darkness had long created a sense of insecurity among traders and made it difficult for consumers to shop. “With this lighting facility, evening trade and shopping will now be much easier and safer,” he remarked.
The municipality has opted for solar-powered systems, which are known to be durable and environmentally friendly. This setup is expected to provide long-term lighting solutions and serve as a reliable alternative during power outages.
Local residents have welcomed the mayor’s initiative. They believe that the lighting will eliminate darkness in the evenings, make movement easier for women and the elderly, and help revive the local marketplace.
The municipality has also announced plans to expand this technology to other wards in the future. The broader “Lighting Campaign” is aimed at transforming Bardibas into a safer and more vibrant commercial zone.
