Dhanusha Police have arrested 44 convicts who had been absconding after being sentenced to imprisonment and fines by the court.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhusudan Neupane, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dhanusha, the individuals were arrested during a special search operation conducted at various locations across the district on Wednesday.

Police stated that those arrested include individuals who had been convicted and remained at large in cases involving narcotic drugs, theft, motorcycle theft, polygamy, vehicular homicide, murder, kidnapping and hostage-taking, robbery, assault, defamation, and grievous injury caused by vehicles, among other offenses.

According to the police, the arrested convicts have been presented before the Dhanusha District Court after completing the necessary legal procedures.

The court had sentenced them, depending on the nature of their respective cases, to imprisonment ranging from six days to four years and imposed fines ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 150,000.

The District Police Office, Dhanusha, stated that under the verdict enforcement campaign, the search and arrest of absconding convicts has been kept as a continuous priority.

Police further stated that the special operation against absconding convicts will continue in the coming days to ensure the effective implementation of court verdicts.
