The Division Forest Office Sarlahi organized a field visit to forest areas for local journalists to provide on-site information about various activities related to forest conservation and promotion.
During the monitoring visit conducted on Friday, the office presented details of the programs completed in the current fiscal year 2081/82, ongoing initiatives, and upcoming plans. The inspection team also visited the office’s plant nurseries and afforestation sites.
Division Forest Officer Santosh Kumar Jha briefed the journalists about the ongoing forest encroachment issue concerning Bharat Tal (Fish Pond) in the Bagmati area, measures taken to control timber smuggling, progress of the Lakhandehi-Lakhadhar Project, and campaigns to remove encroachments. According to Officer Jha, the office is actively involved in forest encroachment control and biodiversity conservation.
“Community and media play a crucial role in forest conservation,” Officer Jha said. “Support from journalists is essential in spreading awareness.”
The event was attended by forest officers, staff from the division, and representatives from various media outlets in the district. Participants expressed their support for improved forest management and transparent operations.
