On the occasion of World Food Day, the Madhesh Province Government honored eight outstanding farmers from eight districts of the province with cash prizes, shawls, and certificates of appreciation.
The event was organized on Friday in Janakpurdham by the Directorate of Agricultural Development under the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives, with the slogan “Working together for healthy food and a happy future.” The honored farmers were recognized for their remarkable contributions to agriculture and production in their respective areas.
At the program, Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Umesh Dahal, presented each selected farmer from Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Siraha, and Saptari with NPR 25,000 in cash, a shawl, and a certificate. According to him, these farmers have demonstrated exemplary success in boosting production through the use of diverse farming methods and modern agricultural technologies.

Balram Yadav of Siraha Municipality–2, Siraha (seed producer)

Mahavir Prasad Chaudhary of Agnisair Krishnasavaran–2, Saptari (general farmer)
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Dahal said that the contribution of these farmers will be crucial in developing Madhesh Province not only as a granary but also as a leading center for food production.
He remarked, “Only by promoting local production can we ensure adequate food for citizens across the country. The joint efforts of farmers and the government are essential for building a prosperous and self-reliant Madhesh.”
The program was chaired by Directorate Chief Jitendra Yadav, and attended by Division Chief Dr. Saroj Chaudhary, Chief of the Food Technology and Quality Control Office Janakpur, Bimal Dahal, and Chief of the Food and Nutrition Security Improvement Project, Dhanusha, Rabilal Sharma, among others. The speakers shared their views on food security, nutritional improvement, and agricultural promotion.
The event formally recognized the dedication of farmers committed to agriculture in Madhesh Province and conveyed a strong message of advancing toward commercial and self-reliant agriculture.
