Sanjit Chaudhary has been arrested by police for attempting to sell court-seized land using a forged release order issued in the name of the Bara District Court.

Chaudhary, a resident of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City–1, allegedly fabricated a fake release order by scanning the letterhead, seal, dispatch number, and signature of a court officer. Based on this forged document, land listed under parcel number 543 with an area of 0-7-0 (bigha-kattha-dhur), previously under seizure, was released and sold to Dipendra Kumar Gupta via the Simara Land Revenue Office, according to the ongoing investigation.

The land had earlier been seized through court proceedings due to a financial dispute between Pawan Sah and Chandrika Dhami. Despite the seizure, Chaudhary used the forged court order to execute the transaction.

Forged Order Created by Scanning and Typing

According to Lal Bahadur Karki, a court officer at the Bara District Court, Chaudhary obtained a copy of an old court-issued release order and used it as a template to prepare the forged document. He recreated a similar layout by typing the contents and then scanned the court’s logo, seal, and signature to make the document appear authentic and official.

During interrogation, Chaudhary confessed to producing the forged document by copying and manipulating an official court paper.

Father on the Run, Son in Custody

Police have also indicated that Sanjit Chaudhary’s father, Moti Dhami Tharu, was involved in the scheme. However, he is currently on the run. According to law enforcement, the father-son duo conspired to carry out this fraud under the guise of official court authority.

Sanjit Chaudhary was arrested on Wednesday and is currently being held at the District Police Office in Bara for further investigation. He is expected to face charges related to document forgery, fraud, and misuse of official government documents.

Abuse of Judicial Authority Raises Concern

This case has raised serious concerns about the misuse of judicial authority, as it involves unauthorized use of the court’s name, seal, and signature. It not only questions the integrity of the legal system but also highlights the vulnerabilities in safeguarding official documents.

The incident underscores the urgent need for stricter verification of legal documents submitted to both the courts and land revenue offices and calls for heightened awareness and systemic safeguards to prevent such fraud in the future.
