Bardibas
Under the slogan “Our desire against drugs – A wish for a healthy and safe society,” the Bardibas branch of the Narcotics Control Bureau achieved significant success in the fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25). Through surveillance and operations conducted across Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, and Sindhuli districts, the bureau arrested dozens of individuals and seized various types of narcotic substances worth tens of millions of rupees.
Heroin Seizure
According to the bureau’s data, police teams confiscated 549.85 grams of brown heroin. During this operation, 35 men, 2 women, and 2 foreign nationals were arrested. Authorities also seized 4 motorcycles and 2 ambulances used in the trafficking. The market value of the seized heroin is estimated at approximately NPR 4.67 million.
Marijuana and Hashish Seizure
The bureau confiscated 15.94 quintals of marijuana and hashish. In connection with this case, 6 men were arrested, and 3 mini trucks and 3 jeeps were also seized. The estimated market value of the seized substances is around NPR 19.9 million.
Controlled Ampoules
Authorities seized 3,144 ampoules of controlled pharmaceutical drugs. Two men were arrested in connection, and one motorcycle was confiscated. The market value of the seized ampoules is estimated at NPR 1.26 million.
Nitrovate Tablets
Police search operations led to the confiscation of 4,793 Nitrovate tablets. Two men were arrested, and 2 motorcycles were seized. The estimated market value of the tablets is NPR 1.28 million.
Codeine-Based Syrup
The bureau also seized 364 bottles of codeine-based syrup. Three men were arrested, and 2 motorcycles were confiscated. The estimated market value of the syrup is NPR 273,000.
Ephedrine Seizure
The bureau seized 854 grams of a narcotic substance called Ephedrine. Three women and two men were arrested during the operation. The market value of the seized Ephedrine is estimated at NPR 6.83 million.
Statement from Branch Chief
According to Saroj Adhikari, Deputy Inspector of Police and Chief of the Bardibas branch of the Narcotics Control Bureau, this success was made possible through intensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, and community cooperation.
He stated, “The campaign against drug trafficking will continue with even more intensity. To ensure a safe society, strong coordination among the police, civil society, and concerned stakeholders is essential.”
The bureau’s proactive operations are being seen as a significant step in the fight against narcotics. Along with police efforts, it is evident that long-term solutions to this issue will require greater public awareness and active community support.
