Following the Supreme Court’s directive to investigate the murder incident that occurred 19 years ago in Gaur, Rautahat, leaders and activists of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal staged protests on Monday evening in Janakpur and various districts across Madhesh.
At Ramanand Chowk in Janakpur Dham, activists blocked roads, set tires on fire, and raised slogans against the government. They chanted slogans such as “Stop the conspiracy against Upendra Yadav” and “Conspirators beware.”
Ram Ashish Yadav, Chief Spokesperson of JSP in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly, warned that the party would resort to a tougher movement if the mandate was not revoked. He alleged that the Congress– UML coalition is deliberately plotting to weaken forces that pursue identity-based politics.
Similarly, Pashupati Yadav, President of JSP Dhanusha, claimed that a conspiracy against party Chairman Upendra Yadav was hatched due to the non-passage of the Land Ordinance. He added that the party had launched symbolic protests immediately following the Supreme Court order and would soon announce further programs of agitation.
The Supreme Court on Monday instructed the government to investigate and take action against those guilty in the Gaur incident.
