The Siddhababa View Tower, built under the provincial government’s “Pride Project” at Chyaukot, Kamalamai Municipality–4, Sindhuli, has fallen into a dilapidated state even before coming into operation. Constructed with an investment of around 25 million rupees, the structure has now turned into a hub for antisocial activities and drug users.

Although the construction of the view tower was completed a long time ago, neither the provincial government nor the local government has taken the responsibility of operating it. Due to the lack of coordination between the two levels of government, the public property is being destroyed before it could even be put to use.

As there is no security arrangement at the tower, activities such as drug consumption, involvement in immoral acts, and vandalism have increased in the area during the evenings. Incidents like breaking the window glasses, damaging the inner structures, and stealing materials have become common.

Local residents are both concerned and outraged by the situation. According to them, if the view tower had been managed and operated properly, it could have been an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign tourists. They believe it could have directly benefited the local market and created employment opportunities.

“It is tragic that a structure built with millions of rupees has turned into ruins so quickly,” a local resident said, adding, “The government only focused on construction but no one took responsibility for its preservation.”

Locals are now demanding that clear responsibility for the protection, security, and management of the tower be assigned without further delay. They warn, “If timely action is not taken, the entire investment will go to waste, and it will raise serious questions about the credibility of future projects.”
