With the core theme of “Knowledge, Science, Skills and Originality, Partnership and Systematic Literacy”, an inter-school secondary-level quiz competition was successfully held in Bardibas, Mahottari, on Friday.

Organized by the Education, Youth, and Sports Division of Bardibas Municipality, the competition was hosted for the first time in Bardibas. Modern Gurukul School secured the first position with 9 points, Deurali Secondary School stood second with 8 points, and Nepal Rastriya Secondary School Bijalpura–Chalki secured the third position with 7 points. Similarly, Sainik Residential Secondary School finished fourth with 5 points.

The municipality announced that all winning schools were awarded prizes and certificates. A total of 29 community and institutional schools from within the municipality participated in the competition. Each team was required to include at least one female student.

On the same occasion, schools and students who achieved outstanding results and 100 percent pass rates in the academic year 2081 were also honored with awards and certificates, informed Roman Niraula, Officer at the Education, Youth, and Sports Division.

Addressing the program, Mayor Prahlad Kumar Kshetri congratulated and extended best wishes to the winning schools as well as those who achieved 100 percent results. He expressed that it was encouraging to see students enrolling in Bardibas schools from different places, while also expressing regret that some schools recorded zero pass results. Mayor Kshetri stated, “The causes behind the zero results will be identified and improvements will be made in the coming days.” Highlighting that the municipality has prioritized the health and education sectors, he further informed that a new educational festival will begin this year, where one outstanding school from each municipality of Mahottari will be invited to compete with schools inside Bardibas.

Likewise, the municipality’s Chief Administrative Officer, Rammani Adhikari, emphasized the importance of extracurricular activities in improving the quality of school education. He shared that a calendar of annual extracurricular activities for both community and institutional schools had been printed and distributed. He pointed out the need for schools themselves to remain active, train their students, and ensure their participation in municipal-level extracurricular competitions.
