Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has urged private hospitals in the province to establish a clear and transparent system for providing free treatment to poor and helpless patients.

According to him, although Nepal’s law requires every hospital to provide free services to at least 10 percent of patients, in practice, there is a lack of transparency in its implementation. “During surprise inspections, hundreds of hospitals are found operating in violation of standards,” Singh warned. “We have already directed the closure of such hospitals, but some have obtained permission from local authorities for fewer beds and are operating with more than the approved number.”

Chief Minister Singh made these remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the fully equipped Aarogya Niketan Hospital, which began services in Janakpurdham on Thursday. The event was attended by Lalbabu Raut Gaddi, the first Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, provincial assembly members, and senior doctors from the region.
