Aaurahi Municipality of Mahottari has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Ward No. 1 Chairperson Yogi Chaudhary and announced a public holiday on Sunday. Following the death of 65-year-old Chaudhary on Saturday, Mayor Pradeep Kumar Khadka issued a condolence statement, saying, “I am shocked that the municipality has lost a capable, honest, and genuine people’s representative,” while offering his tribute.
The statement described Chaudhary as a dedicated and diligent representative committed to serving the people.

Elected from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), Chaudhary had won the position of ward chairperson in the
2022 local elections with 529 votes. The municipality announced that all services — including the municipal executive office, ward offices, educational institutions, and health institutions (except emergency services) — will remain closed on Sunday.
According to LSP municipal coordinator Daresh Yadav, Chaudhary’s passing has plunged all well-wishers, leaders, and cadres of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party into grief. Senior LSP leader and Minister for Labour, Employment, and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari; Mayor Pradeep Khadka; along with local party leaders and cadres, attended the funeral. On behalf of the party, Chaudhary was draped with the party flag as a final mark of respect.
The funeral was also attended by Mahottari Provincial Assembly member and former minister Bharat Sah, MPs Jailun Rayeen and Ramita Pradhan, Bardibas Mayor Prahlad Kshetri, and other public representatives. All participants remembered Chaudhary’s contributions and extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
