A 38-year-old man, Nar Kumar Acharya, from Lalbandi Municipality–9 in Sarlahi district, lost his life in a road accident, while his wife sustained serious injuries.

The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Banpath area of Bardibas Municipality–10 along the East-West Highway. The couple was traveling towards Bardibas on a scooter for household errands when they were struck by a truck from behind. Acharya was riding a scooter with registration number Madhesh Province 02–008P–6834, according to Mahottari District Police.

Police reported that the truck, with license plate number Province 2–03–001Kha–6461, was driven recklessly at high speed by 41-year-old Jhanak Kumar Dhamala, a resident of Harivan Municipality–11 in Sarlahi. The truck hit the scooter from behind, leading to the accident.

Both Acharya and his wife, Dhan Kumari Ghimire, were seriously injured and immediately taken to Subhaswastik Hospital in Bardibas for emergency treatment. However, Nar Kumar Acharya succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Saturday afternoon, according to hospital sources. Dhan Kumari Ghimire is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The police have taken the truck and its driver into custody. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
