On the occasion of “Plant Day,” the Rotary Club of Bardibas successfully organized a tree plantation program on Saturday. The event was held at Kalapani Picnic Park, located in Bardibas–3, where a total of 600 saplings of various species were planted.
Mayor of Bardibas Municipality, Mr. Prahlad Kumar Kshetri, inaugurated the program by planting a sapling of the Jamuna species. Speaking at the event, he emphasized the importance of collective efforts from local governments, community organizations, and civil society in environmental conservation and the promotion of greenery.
The tree plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from Rotary Club officials, local elected representatives, youth groups from Kalapani, social activists, and other concerned stakeholders.
The president of the Rotary Club of Bardibas stated that the program aimed not only to raise public awareness but also to initiate a campaign to revitalize Kalapani Park. He expressed the club’s commitment to continuing environment-friendly initiatives in the future.
Kalapani Picnic Park was initially developed in 2015 (2072 B.S.) through the efforts of then-Chief Administrative Officer of Bardibas Municipality, Mr. Ram Kumar Karki. However, due to lack of maintenance and management in recent years, the park had fallen into neglect and become overgrown with weeds.
In this context, Mr. Hiralal Gautam, Chairperson of the Tourism Infrastructure Development Committee of Bardibas Municipality and President of the Federation of Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs of Madhesh Province, expressed hope that the plantation drive would breathe new life into the park. According to him, along with conservation efforts, the area could become a tourism destination in the future, providing a peaceful recreation space for both local families and visitors.
The Rotary Club has also committed to regular monitoring and irrigation to ensure the survival and growth of the planted saplings.
