Bardibas, Mahottari
Bardibas in Mahottari district now hosts not just a Taxpayer Service Office but a fully operational Internal Revenue Office (IRO). Starting Thursday, the office has expanded its scope to include tax auditing, inspections, and investigative services.
Previously limited to tax collection, the Taxpayer Service Office in Bardibas has now been upgraded into a full-fledged Internal Revenue Office. According to Office Chief Gehendraprakash Giri, the office will now handle not only tax collection but also business audits, tax evasion investigations, and legal monitoring activities.
The office’s jurisdiction has also significantly expanded. Previously serving Bardibas and Gaushala of Mahottari, along with Mithila Municipality of Dhanusha, the office will now also cater to Harivan, Lalbandi, and Malangawa of Sarlahi district, as well as areas of Sindhuli district.
Local business owners say this upgrade will eliminate the hassle of traveling to the provincial capital, Janakpurdham, for tax-related tasks. They believe that having direct access to comprehensive tax services in Bardibas will save both time and money.
Currently, the office is operating from a rented space in the main market area of Bardibas. However, plans are underway to construct a state-of-the-art facility on government-owned land in Bardibas–14.
During an official ceremony on Thursday, Chief Tax Officer Anand Kumar Gupta of the Internal Revenue Office, Janakpurdham, formally inaugurated the new services, marking the official transformation of the Bardibas office into an Internal Revenue Office.
