One worker died and two others were injured after being electrocuted on Thursday morning in Nawalpur, located in Lalbandi Municipality–1 of Sarlahi district. The incident occurred inside the premises of New Maa Rajdevi Food Industry.

The accident took place when workers attempted to move an 11,000-volt high-tension power line while atop a truck (registration number: Na. 6 Kha 7550) that had arrived from Rautahat to collect rice husk.

According to Inspector Birendra Singh Johari of the Area Police Office, Lalbandi, 30-year-old Dinesh Paswan of Brindaban Municipality–7 in Rautahat died due to electrocution. He was rushed to Namuna Hospital in Hariwan in critical condition, but was declared dead by the attending doctors.

Two other workers on the same truck—25-year-old Kundan Paswan and 40-year-old Jageshwar Paswan, both also residents of Brindaban Municipality–7—were injured in the incident. They are currently receiving treatment at Namuna Hospital, Hariwan.

The truck driver, 39-year-old Sheikh Lal Mohammad from Birgunj Metropolitan City–30 in Parsa, escaped the incident unhurt. He has been taken into police custody along with the truck for further investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest that the fatal incident occurred due to negligent interference with the high-voltage power line that runs just above the roof of the industrial complex. Police say further investigation is ongoing.
