A man has been arrested in Sarlahi with NPR 1.4 million in cash, the source of which could not be verified, near the Nepal–India border. Armed Police Force personnel took the individual into custody while he was entering Nepal from India.

The arrested has been identified as 36-year-old Indrajit Prasad Sah, a resident of Malangwa Municipality–2. According to Superintendent of the Armed Police Force, Dev Bahadur Chand, Sah was apprehended from the border area of Malangwa Municipality–8, also known as the no-man’s-land (Dasgaja). He was reportedly entering Nepal on an Indian-registered motorcycle (registration number not disclosed).

The police stated that Sah failed to provide a legitimate source for the NPR 1.4 million he was carrying. Based on preliminary investigations, authorities suspect the money might be linked to illegal hundi transactions. Further investigations into the case are ongoing.

Due to the open Nepal–India border, such illegal transactions and smuggling activities have become recurring issues, posing increasing security challenges in the border areas.
