A man from Parsa who had been on the run after killing his wife over a dowry dispute has been arrested four years after the incident.

According to the District Police Office, Parsa, 25-year-old Sahajim Miya Ansari, a resident of Birgunj Metropolitan City–7, Alau, was taken into police custody on Thursday morning based on a special tip-off.

Ansari had allegedly beaten his 22-year-old wife, Rabina Khatun, to death on Baisakh 3, 2078 (April 16, 2021) following a dispute over dowry. He had been absconding since the incident.

The concerned court had convicted Ansari in a culpable homicide case, sentencing him to one year in prison and imposing a fine of NPR 10,000.

Police stated that the absconding convict was arrested from his own residence in Birgunj–17, Alau, and preparations are underway to present him before the Parsa District Court after completing necessary legal procedures.
