After complaints of serious negligence in service delivery at Jaleshwar Provincial Hospital in Mahottari, the Madhesh Province government has directed four health workers to submit a written response within three days.

The Provincial Ministry of Health and Population has sent clarification letters to Medical Officers Dr. Shikha Adhikari and Dr. Sadre Alam, as well as Staff Nurses Mandika Kumari Yadav and Ranjita Sah.

Representatives of various organizations had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh on Tuesday, stating that patients had lost their lives prematurely due to being denied treatment at the hospital. Following this, Chief Minister Singh instructed the ministry to immediately investigate the matter and initiate disciplinary action.

According to the ministry, preliminary monitoring and inquiries revealed evidence that patients were denied health services, the code of conduct was not followed, and there were delays in performance. The ministry’s letter stated, “If a clear response is not submitted within three days, disciplinary action will be initiated.”

As per Section 86 of the Provincial Civil Service Act, employees who deliberately neglect service delivery or cause harm to service seekers through delays may face action.

In this context, Madhesh Province Health Minister Shatrudhan Prasad Singh warned that employees who weaken service delivery, fail to demonstrate competence according to their position, or act negligently will face consequences. The Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers has also made it clear that the provincial government will not tolerate such apathy in any of its subordinate bodies.
