The economic and social status of differently-abled citizens residing in Bardibas Municipality, Mahottari, is set to improve.
With financial support from ADRA Nepal, in coordination and collaboration with Bardibas Municipality, the non-governmental organization Samriddha Nepal is set to implement the “Economic and Social Empowerment Project for Differently-Abled Citizens.” Under this project, beneficiaries will be provided with opportunities for income-generating activities.
On the initiative of the Deputy Mayor, 41 beneficiaries have been selected from 7 wards—wards no. 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 13, and 14—based on recommendations. According to the Beneficiary Selection Guideline 2081, 31 individuals among them have already received three phases of vocational training.
In this context, the Municipality has also completed a Gender-Inclusive Budget Workshop. As part of the project, differently-abled participants will be supported to run small businesses such as grocery shops, goat farming, cow farming, poultry farming, and snack shops.
According to Bhim Bahadur Ale Magar, Chairperson of Samriddha Nepal, each beneficiary will receive a total of NPR 20,000, provided in two installments—NPR 15,000 in the first phase and NPR 5,000 in the second.
It is expected that this project will enable differently-abled citizens to become self-reliant and contribute to the economic and social sectors.
