Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has described religious tourism as a key foundation for the province’s prosperity. On the special occasion of Saune Somvar (a holy Monday in the Nepali month of Shrawan), after visiting the Tuteshwarnath Mahadev Temple in Bardibas-5, Mahottari, he expressed his belief that promoting and preserving the region’s religious sites could significantly boost economic development.

“From Koshi to Thori, the religious, cultural, and historical sites that stretch across the region are our identity,” said Chief Minister Singh. “With preservation, infrastructure development, and effective promotion, religious tourism can become a major source of income after agriculture in Madhesh.”

Singh highlighted that religious sites such as Tuteshwarnath Mahadev, Panchadhura Maithan, and Raimandal Dham are not only spiritually significant but also naturally and geographically appealing. Located in the lap of the Chure hills and nestled within the forests of the mid-Tarai, these areas are also important from an environmental perspective.

According to him, the provincial government will now move forward in collaboration with local governments to promote both religious and natural heritage. “We are advancing a strategy to develop tourism by partnering with local levels,” he stated.

During his visit, Chief Minister Singh also conducted an on-site inspection of ongoing infrastructure development projects in the area. On the occasion, representatives from Bardibas Municipality, its Culture and Tourism Promotion Committee, and the Nepal Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs Federation drew his attention to the need for greater efforts in tourism promotion.

It is hoped that partnerships between local governments and the private sector will help broaden the scope of religious tourism. The provincial government is optimistic that the planned and systematic development of sites like Tuteshwarnath, Panchadhura, and Raimandal Dham could reshape the overall tourism landscape of Madhesh Province.
