Siraha – An 80-year-old man, Phanilal Yadav, was brutally murdered under suspicious circumstances in Aamchowk, Ward No. 11 of Dhangadhimai Municipality, Siraha. According to police and family sources, Yadav was attacked with a sharp weapon while he was asleep in his own home.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, but Yadav was only discovered the next morning when he failed to wake up as usual. “When my father didn’t get up in the morning, we went to check and found him lying in bed in a pool of blood,” said Kapildev Yadav, the victim’s son.
Yadav was immediately rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Lahan in critical condition, but doctors were unable to save him. He died during treatment, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Birendra Kumar Paswan of the District Police Office, Siraha.
Following the incident, enraged locals protested the delayed response by police. They blocked the East-West Highway and burned tires, bringing traffic to a halt for about an hour.
DSP Paswan said preliminary investigations suggest the murder may have been motivated by a family dispute or a previous conflict. “The investigation into the incident is being intensified,” he said, “and legal action will be taken as soon as the perpetrator is identified.”
Local residents have demanded guarantees of security and the swift arrest of the culprits. The incident has raised serious concerns regarding law and order in the area.
