A meeting of the Disaster Management Committee was held on Saturday at Bardibas Municipality to address the ongoing crisis and provide relief to the residents. The meeting was convened in response to the Government of Nepal’s declaration on 2082 Ashar 8 (July 22, 2025), which officially recognized Madhesh Province as a “Disaster Crisis Area” through a notice in the Nepal Gazette.

Chaired by Mayor Prahlad Kumar Kshetri, the meeting unanimously decided to immediately install motors at locations where borewells already exist but are not yet operational due to the lack of motors. Additionally, it was resolved to initiate the construction of borewells in areas where no such water sources currently exist, following the necessary procedures.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Nepal Red Cross Society (Mahottari Sub-Branch, Bardibas), Area Police Office Bardibas, Armed Police Force, Area Administration Office, journalists, and other stakeholders.

According to the municipality, the ongoing rainfall has led to a declining groundwater level, affecting access to water for both drinking and agricultural purposes. As a response, the municipality is taking proactive measures to ensure reliable access to water sources.

Bardibas Municipality also reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing active citizen participation, collaboration, and information-sharing in all aspects of disaster management.
