A young man was found dead on Monday evening along the banks of the Marha River in Bardibas Municipality–5 of Mahottari district. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as approximately 30-year-old Sanjiv Sada, a resident of the Musahar settlement in Bardibas Municipality–10.
Sanjiv Sada was found dead around 6 PM on Monday in a fenced field near Bardibas–5, where tree plantation had been carried out as part of a land exchange preparation by the Medical College. The location is about one kilometer north of the deceased’s home and one kilometer south of the famous Tuteshwar Temple.
A police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Meghu Ray Yadav from the temporary police post at Gaushala Chowk under the Area Police Office Bardibas arrived at the scene for preliminary investigation. During the initial inquiry, police reported that Sanjiv Sada was mentally unstable and known to consume excessive amounts of alcohol. Locals also informed that he had been living in a neglected state for some time.
The police have stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing. A team including a Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bikas Bam from the Area Police Office Bardibas visited the site to collect necessary evidence and continue the investigation.
The incident site lies approximately 7 kilometers northwest of the temporary police post at Maithan.
The police have initiated the process for autopsy and further forensic examination. Bardibas police stated that the exact cause of death remains unknown and further details will be made public following a detailed investigation.
