Bardibas Municipality has decided to close all schools operating within the municipality for two days as the impact of extreme heat and hot winds (loo) continues to intensify.

Issuing a notice on Tuesday, the municipality stated that due to the continuously rising temperatures over the past few days, daily life has been affected and there is an increasing risk of adverse health impacts on school-going children. Therefore, teaching and learning activities in all community, institutional (private), and religious schools will remain completely suspended from Jestha 21 to Jestha 22, 2083 (Nepali calendar).

The municipality stated that the holiday has been granted in accordance with the decision made on Jestha 20, 2083.

According to the notice issued by Chief Administrative Officer Rammani Adhikari, the decision was taken considering the health, safety, and welfare of students.

The municipality has also urged parents to take necessary precautions during the hot weather and to avoid allowing children to move around unnecessarily outside their homes.

As the increasing heat and hot winds continue to affect daily life in various districts of the Terai-Madhesh region, health professionals have also advised people to drink sufficient water, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and take special precautions.
