Sixteen children who were stranded in various cities in India have been rescued and placed under the care of their families today in Janakpurdham.
These children, originally from Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Rautahat, and Saptari districts of Madhesh Province, had reached different locations in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bihar in India. They were safely brought back to Nepal through the efforts of the ‘Keen India’ organization in coordination with the Indian police.
During a program organized in Janakpurdham, the rescued children were handed over to their guardians under the supervision of Ranjit Yadav, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Social Welfare, Government of Madhesh Province.
According to Sanjiv Mahto, Coordination Officer of the National Child Rights Council, Madhesh Province, the rescued children are aged between 9 and 22 years.
Furthermore, ‘Keen India’, in coordination with the Indian police, has also rescued two additional girls. They were placed under the care of their families through the Child Welfare Committee and the Child Search and Rescue Center in Janakpurdham.
Mahto stated that most of the rescued children had traveled to India in search of employment, income, and opportunities. Through the joint efforts of the organization and the police, they were safely returned to their homeland.
