Gaushala, Mahottari
All headteachers of community schools within Gaushala Municipality in Mahottari district have submitted a joint resignation.
On Tuesday, the headteachers of all 31 community schools in the municipality submitted their resignations at the municipal administration office. According to their resignation letters, the decision will take effect from the start of the new fiscal year, i.e., Shrawan 1 (mid-July).
The resigning headteachers cited the municipality’s failure to release essential funds required for school operations even by the end of the fiscal year as their primary grievance.
“We reached a point where it was no longer possible to run the schools,” said one headteacher. “Despite repeated requests and reminders, the municipality paid no attention, ultimately forcing us to choose resignation.”
In their resignation letter, the headteachers highlighted that critical budget allocations such as mid-day meals, textbooks, non-salary headings, salaries for municipal and grant-based teachers, conditional capital grants, and educational subsidies were either unreleased or disbursed in extremely minimal amounts.
They expressed deep dissatisfaction over the municipality’s repeated delays and neglect despite several follow-ups. Along with their resignation, the headteachers also submitted a copy of the decisions made in their most recent collective meeting.
This development has sparked serious concern among parents and local residents, who fear an impending educational crisis in the municipality’s schools.
