Aagya Khabar
Bardibas
Today, on the third day of the bright fortnight of Bhadra (Bhadra Shukla Tritiya), the Haritalika Teej festival is being observed across the country with faith and devotion. Especially, Hindu women observe fasting and worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati during this festival, which is traditionally celebrated for good fortune, prosperity, and family well-being.
On this occasion, Mayor of Bardibas Municipality, Prahlad Kumar Kshetri, extended heartfelt greetings to all Hindu women in the municipality on the occasion of Teej, Ganesh Chaturthi (Chaurachan), and Rishi Panchami. He stated:
“Teej strengthens women’s devotion, faith, and social unity. It has also helped promote religious harmony, mutual understanding, and cultural diversity within the municipality. Festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi (Chaurachan) and Rishi Panchami have equally contributed to preserving our social beliefs, traditions, and sacred culture. May these festivals spread peace, prosperity, and goodwill among all residents of our municipality.”
Since early morning, temples and Shiva shrines across the country have seen a large turnout of women devotees. At the Tuteshwarnath Mahadev Temple in Bardibas-5, Mahottari, devotees gathered in significant numbers, while similar crowds have been reported in Shiva temples from the Terai to the hill regions.
On this day, women traditionally fast and offer water, milk, and sacred belpatra (leaves of the wood apple tree) to the idols of Shiva and Parvati throughout the day, while in the evening and night, they participate in devotional songs, hymns, and bhajans. Married women celebrate this festival for the long life of their husbands and the prosperity of their families, while unmarried women observe the rituals with prayers to be blessed with an ideal life partner.
Along with religious observances, Teej also holds special significance for women’s social gatherings, singing, dancing, and cultural programs. On this occasion, women’s organizations have organized special cultural events at the main square in Bardibas-1 and the open stage in Bardibas-3. These events are taken as opportunities to strengthen women’s social bonds, cultural unity, and religious devotion.
