New Leadership Elected for Indigenous Nationalities Federation in Sarlahi

The District Working Committee of the Indigenous Nationalities Federation, Sarlahi, has been restructured with new leadership. The sixth district convention, held today at the Indigenous Nationalities Building in Ghurkauli, Harivan Municipality–9, unanimously elected a new committee under the chairmanship of Manbir Majhi.

The newly elected committee includes Deepak Bhujel as Vice Chair, Kaushilya Lungeli as Secretary, Satya Bot as Joint Secretary, and Gyanu Gurung as Treasurer. Likewise, Kamal Chaudhary has been elected as a member. It was stated that one representative from each of the 16 ethnic organizations affiliated with the federation will be nominated later, completing the 16-member structure.

Alongside the convention, the federation also held its general assembly and celebrated the 31st International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples on the same day. Madhesh Province Assembly member Bechi Lungeli was the chief guest at the event.

The program, chaired by outgoing president Ek Bahadur Gurung, was attended by Surendra Lama, Narayan Khapangi, Lekhram Jarga, Hirakaji Yonjan, Indra Yonjan, Chhatra Dumjan, Tejnarayan Ale, among others.
